FACTS ABOUT SOFT DRINKS

FACTS ABOUT SOFT DRINKS A Look at the Coca Cola Products ( The Ingredients and the harmful effects on human health) By John Mary Ahimbisibwe (B. SC. Dip. Ed) ACKNOWLEDGEMENT I would like to thank Professor Olwa Odyek of Makerere University, for encouraging me to write down my findings I would like to thank the administration of Maryhill High School for allowing me to use some of their facilities. I would also like to thank the staff of Greater African Radio for providing me with the Internet facility. Thanks go to Dr. Nkamuhayo Rwacumika ( Kaihura Nkuba) for the encouragement and support. Lastly but not least, I would like to thank my wife Stella and children for having given me an environment without which I would not be able to prepare this work. INTRODUCTION Soft drinks are today's rage, trend and fashion, especially among the youth. In Africa, especially in Uganda, it is not a surprise to see people diving for these soft drinks, if for example they served at parties or any f

FINDING A CURE FOR COVID-19

FINDING A CURE FOR COVID-19 What I learned from school is that, medicinal plants are precursors of modern medicine. When a research is done on a given plant sample, the preliminary tests are done on bioactivity of the extracts and then the chemical analysis follows. The chemical analysis can result in a number of different chemicals, but identifying the one that is active is also another rigorous exercise, because you can identify one chemical from the plant extract with more than 50 sterio-isomers (chiral centers). To identify one isomer that is active and will not have adverse effects on human body, is also another story.  Therefore, it is almost practically impossible to imagine that you can get the plant material and produce a drug for the whole population in the whole world. However it is possible, botanical gardens can be put in place for relatively large production but this has been done on a small scale. What is usually done is that, after identifying the most appropriate chem

YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

In developing countries, growing up in poverty seems to be a curse and nightmare. This is because many youth and children do not see any light at the end of the tunnel when they find themselves in such kind of situation. The most important component of their lives is how to survive. This is the reason why most of these children become sex slaves or terrorists or drug addicts and abusers. They are actually people with no hope! In many developing countries such as Uganda, the education system does not completely help these youth because it is itself very expensive, takes long to complete studies and in most cases the system does not provide the necessary life skills for these youth. Education results in job seekers rather than job creators, hence the level of unemployment has increased exponentially Therefore in order for young people growing up in poverty to thrive in their adult world, they need to be helped in the following ways.  IDENTIFICATION   There is need to identify the youths

Ways MEN Can Escape Poverty.

Five Ways MEN Can Escape Poverty. VERY USEFUL  1. Leave Naked Women Alone: Yes, those women who dress like they are in the process of undressing but they have not finished. Leave them alone. Most of them are up to no good and will only cost you a whole fortune in one weekend. Instead, get yourself a real woman: There is strength in a real woman. Get a woman who will not only support your vision but will also push you to achieve more. A woman who will inspire you to work hard and not a woman who just makes you hard. He who finds a real woman finds a good thing and obtains favour and power to create wealth. 2. Stop Drinking Cheap Beer: I have no problem with having a drink over the weekend for social interaction and networking. However, when you drink cheap beer, you hang out with cheap people who have cheap ideas and a cheap future. Big business opportunities are found in places where the drinks are expensive. Infact, in places where they sale cheap beer, the only people you will find
